Soldiers supplied 12,000 liters of water to indigenous people of Carurú

More than 170 indigenous families were benefited with the supply of the precious liquid, for two days, given that there were failures in the aqueduct of the municipality and also that they could not meet their basic needs.

The municipality of Carurú, in Vaupés, is more than 500 kilometers far from the capital city of the country and there converge indigenous ethnic groups such as the Arapaso, Bará, Barasano, Desana, Karapana, Cubeo, among others. According to data provided by the Mayor's Office, there are about 700 people who live in the urban area.

In recent days, the inhabitants of this municipality were hit by the interruption of the supply of this vital liquid, since the motor pump had mechanical failures.

For 48 hours, soldiers of the National Army put at the service of the people a tractor-type vehicle, unique in the municipality, given the jungle conditions and logistical limitations, so that it transported water along the main roads of Carurú and families could carry out tasks typical of everyday life. The police station in the same way was benefited.
