In the South Pacific, Colombian Navy seized more than three tons of marijuana valued at three million dollars

En el Pacífico sur, Armada de Colombia incautó más de tres toneladas de marihuana avaluadas en tres millones de dólares

Through this confiscation, the commercialization of more than 540 thousand doses of narcotics on the streets of the world was prevented.

During the procedure, three Colombians were arrested.

The Colombian Navy, within the framework of comprehensive maritime control and security operations in the South Pacific, reported the seizure of 3.2 tons of marijuana, which were transported aboard a go fast type ship and would be valued at 3.4 million dollars.

This result was possible thanks to the combined action of the Pacific Coast Guard Group of the Colombian Navy, together with a surface unit of the Joint and Interagency Task Force of the Southern Command of the United States – JIAFTS-, who, guided by naval intelligence information, reported the maritime interception of a ship equipped with three outboard motors.

When carrying out the search procedure, the members of the Military Forces found three Colombian crew members on board, who were transporting 109 blue and yellow sacks with an alleged narcotic substance.

The elements and the personnel were transported to the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, in the department of Nariño, where personnel of the Technical Research Corps –CTI-, carried out the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, determining that it was 3,259 kilograms of marijuana. During the procedure, approximately 600 gallons of foreign fuel were in the same way seized.

Through this confiscation, the commercialization of more than 540 thousand doses of narcotics on the international illicit market was prevented.

The illegal merchandise and the arrested individuals were put into custody of the authorities for their respective prosecution process.
