Specialized team managed to disable an explosive device reported by people in Villarrica, Tolima

Equipo especializado logró desactivar controladamente, un artefacto reportado por la comunidad en Villarrica, Tolima

In response to citizen reports in the municipality of Villarrica, department of Tolima, which alerted about a suspicious object, it was necessary the Intervention and Maneuvers of the Team against Explosives (EIMEX) of the Air Special Operations Group (GROEA), of the Colombian Aerospace Force, to immediately face the situation, in order to successfully disable the device; it was a joint operation with Colombian National Army.

The meticulous maneuver of assistance to humanitarian emergencies, coordinated at the Air Combat Command No.4, in Melgar, Tolima, led to the demolition of the device found by the people in the village El Castillo. During the procedure, all the security protocols were followed, in order to safeguard the life and good physical condition of the civilians, as well as to mitigate the damage to the environment.

One of the strategies was the use of drones to monitor the surrounding houses from the air, before, during and after the operation. In the same way these operations ensured the absence of inhabitants and other people in the area, who could be hit.
