With the firm commitment to protect the environment, works to promote animal wellbeing and strengthen coordination with indigenous communities, the Colombian Aerospace Force, in a joint work with the Government of the Amazonas and the Ángeles de 4 Patas Foundation, accompanied a free sterilization activity of dogs and cats in the Indigenous Territory of Tarapacá, department of Amazonas.
Thanks to the joint work with the Rainforest Infantry Battalion No. 50, delegations from Denmark and Germany, the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Productivity of the Department of the Amazonas, the Ángeles de 4 Patas Foundation, the Doc Pets Surgical Unit and the council of Leticia, it was possible to sterilize 112 animals, including dogs and cats, males and females, in the urban area of the indigenous reserve.
This activity aimed to reduce the number of domestic animals, prevent animal abuse and reduce the impact of these specimens on wildlife, promoting the conservation of the natural environment. In the same way, these operations contribute to reducing the risks for the military aviation operation, especially in areas near runways and military bases.
At the extreme south of the country, the Colombian Aerospace Force through the Amazonas Air Group reaffirms its commitment to animal wellbeing activities as part of its responsibility for the environment and the security of the military operation. These initiatives strengthen the joint work with indigenous communities and reaffirm the comprehensive approach with which the Institution addresses territorial challenges in the Colombian Amazonas region.
