Strategic blow: National Army dismantles and brings to justice the Group 34 of the Magdalena Medio Bloc

Golpe estratégico: Ejército Nacional desarticula y somete a la justicia a la Comisión 34 del Bloque Magdalena Medio

The surrender of these 11 members, including its three ringleaders, strengthens the deployment resources of the military operation of Colombian National Army, which, through its results, continues to significantly weaken the credibility and structure of criminal organizations in the department of Chocó territory.

Within the framework of military operations, troops of the Infantry Battalion No. 12, of the Fifteenth Brigade of Colombian National Army, reported the surrender to justice of the whole Group 34, belonging to the Calarcá faction of the Magdalena Medio Gentil Duarte Bloc, structure of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r).

In rural area, Guaduas village, of the municipality of Carmen de Atrato, in the department of Chocó, as a result of the decisive action tasks, conducted by this unit, the fulfillment of the strategic objective was obtained, which obeys to weaken the resources of the threat.

As a result of the pressure sustained in the area by the constant military operations, 11 members of this illegal armed structure, 10 men and one woman, decided to voluntarily surrender to justice, including its three main ringleaders known in the criminal circle as Andrés, Jair and David, who expressed their intention to enter the corresponding process and during the procedure, requested respect for their life and personal integrity.

During the operation, the troops maintained strict respect for human rights and International Humanitarian Law, working for the life, integrity and dignity of the people, in accordance with the principles and values that govern the actions of Colombian National Army.

In the same way, important war items were surrendered and put into custody of the institution, including eight long weapons, a large amount of ammunition of different calibers, magazines, elements of military accessories, communication equipment and ideological notebooks, a finding that significantly weakens the criminal, armed, logistical and doctrinal capacity of this group.

This result of the military operation leads to the complete dismantling of the GAO-r 34 Group, a structure activated in 2025 due to the splitting of the GAO-r 36, which was part of the expansionist plan of the Magdalena Medio Bloc, with the intention of making criminal incursions into the departments of Chocó, Risaralda department and Caldas.

Colombian National Army will continue to strengthen this type of military operations, reaffirming its permanent commitment to the security, legality and defense of Colombian territory, always acting within the framework of the Constitution, the law and respect for Human Rights, with the aim of protecting the inhabitants and contributing to stability and peace in the regions.

The individuals were put into custody of the authority and the legal procedures established for the process of surrender to justice are being carried out, in accordance with the regulations with the Humanitarian Assistance Group for the Demobilized (GAHD) of the Ministry of National Defense.
