In the framework of joint, coordinated and inter-institutional military operations, the Military Forces dealt a significant blow against the Marco Aurelio Buendía Structure, belonging to the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc. During the action, it was possible to eliminate key members of the security group of the ringringleader alias Pate Palo, in the rural area of Vista Hermosa, Meta department.
Troops of the 11th Direct Action and Reconnaissance Battalion, attached to the 11th Rapid Deployment Force and units of the Omega Task Force of Colombian National Army, carry out sustained operations in the village of Alto Caño Cafra, municipality of Vista Hermosa, department of Meta. This action was made possible thanks to the work of military intelligence and coordination with the Colombian Navy, the Colombian Aerospace Force and the Attorney General's Office.
During the clashes, two members of the security group of the ringleader of the criminal structure were neutralized, including alias La Gorda, accused as head of security of alias Pate Palo, ringleader of the Marco Aurelio Buendía Structure. This network is part of the GAO-r faction known as the alias Calarcá structure, responsible for multiple criminal acts in the southeast of the country.
Elements of war and logistics were seized in the area, including: a 5.56 mm caliber rifle, four magazines, 144 cartridges of the same caliber, campaign equipment, a battery, a radio charger and a power generator; elements used to strengthen the armed acts of this illegal organization.
Through these actions, Colombian National Army, through the Omega Task Force, reaffirms its commitment to protect the inhabitants, maintain territorial control and sustainably weaken the residual armed groups that commit crimes in the department of Meta, department of Caquetá and Guaviare.
