In fulfillment of its institutional mission and support for joint military operations, the Colombian Aerospace Force conducted a palletized air cargo launch capability training at the facilities of the Oriente Air Group, in Marand煤a, department of Vichada. This activity was led by the Military Transport Air Command (CATAM), which sent a C-130 Hercules aircraft with two full crews, which successfully carried out three cargo launches during the activity.
The purpose of the exercise was to strengthen the skills of technical and flight personnel in procedures for preparing, loading, dispatching and recovering air materiel, contributing to maintaining the availability of military operations and the capacity to respond to situations that demand the supply of hard-to-reach areas in the national territory.
The launch of palletized air cargo, in the same way known as CDS (Container Distribution System), is a capability of the C-130 and C-295 type military transport aircraft of the Colombian Aerospace Force, which is carried out of the tailgate of the aircraft using parachutes, accurately and safely sending supplies to the troops on the ground. Thanks to this training, the units and crews optimize reaction times and consolidate safety protocols, promoting compliance with Air Special Operations under precision and efficiency standards.
