As part of the activities of FAIR-Colombia 2025, a geostrategic visit was carried out by delegations of the Spanish Air and Space Army and the Italian Military Aeronautics. The purpose of this meeting was to consolidate strategic cooperation ties, promote the exchange of experiences and good practices in air operations, surveillance and airspace control, as well as to promote technological development and innovation, with special emphasis on the aerospace field.
The delegations were composed of Lieutenant General Achille Fernando Cazzaniga, Logistics Commander of the Aeronautics of Italy, and Major General Miguel 脕ngel Ordu帽a Rodr铆guez, Chief of the Plans Division of the General Staff of the Air and Space Army of Spain, who, together with their respective delegations and accompanied by Major General Carlos Fernando Silva Rueda, Second Commander of the Colombian Aerospace Force visited two air bases.
The tour started at the Air Combat Command No. 4, headquarters of the International Helicopter School for the Military Forces, where the delegates interacted with flight and technical personnel, there they got to know the UH-60 and HUEY II鈥揢H-1H helicopter aircraft simulators, key tools for intensive training in normal and emergency procedures, which strengthen decision-making and the preparation of crews for critical environments.
In addition, they were informed about the base's resources in security and humanitarian support, essential for operations in the departments of Huila, Tolima and Cundinamarca.
Later, the delegations moved to the city of Cali to visit the Marco Fidel Su谩rez Military Aviation School where they interacted with the training and innovation resources provided by the Colombian Aerospace Force for its future officers. In the same way, a presentation was made on the progress of the Space Operations Center (SpOC), which carries out analysis of geospatial information from Earth observation and other implementations aimed at integrating FACSAT program resources. These operations are aligned with the objectives of the National Government and with the Strategy for the Air and Space Development of the Colombian Air Force by 2042, including the promotion of the satellite project for Colombia.
These types of meetings contribute to improve joint military operation resources, increase interoperability standards and open opportunities for future alliances in equipment training, maintenance and modernization. It in the same way reinforces the shared commitment to regional security and international cooperation in an increasingly complex and dynamic global environment.
