To date, about two tons of this drug have been found in the department.
Within the framework of the Campaign Plan of the Ayacucho military operation, soldiers of the Tenth Brigade of the Army continue to deal powerful blows to drug trafficking in the department of La Guajira. This time, on the road that connects the municipality of Albania with Maicao, it was possible to find more than 600 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
Thanks to the military intelligence carried out in the sector, information was obtained about the suspicious movement of a vehicle with Venezuelan license plates. The soldiers, at a checkpoint, decided to stop the car, but both the driver and the passenger started to escape, abandoning the car. When inspecting inside, 607 packages were found by troops, each containing one kilogram of cocaine hydrochloride.
This result complements the finding of 2.7 tons of marijuana and an additional 200 kilograms of cocaine in the last week, which reinforces the commitment and effectiveness of the troops in their fight against drug trafficking. These operations not only weaken the illicit finances of organized armed groups, but in the same way protect the inhabitants from criminal activities that threaten their security.
