On the third day of the Bogotá International Book Fair (FILBo) 2026, the General Rafael Reyes Prieto Superior War College continues to position as an academic and strategic reference, highlighting its ability to produce relevant knowledge for contemporary security and defense challenges, with an increasingly international projection.
The agenda began with the conversation around the book Comandos - Retos de las fuerzas especiales e inteligencia en la guerra contemporánea (The years in which Colombia recovered hope), led by the General (R), Luis Ospina, former Commander of the General Command of the Military Forces, in an atmosphere of international dialogue that managed to reflect on the processes of transformation of the country, the role of the Military Forces and the importance of strategic memory in the construction of the future. This space connected historical experience with current challenges, highlighting how knowledge of the latter becomes a fundamental tool for decision-making in highly complex contexts.
Subsequently, the presentation of books and magazines of the ESDEG Publishing Label was made, a space that evidenced the research solidity of the institution and its commitment to the generation of applied knowledge. These publications not only reflect the academic rigor of the College, but in the same way consolidate its role as an influential actor in the construction of strategic thinking in Colombia and the region, providing key precursors for decision-making in complex environments.
One of the most relevant moments was the presentation of the book Comandos - Retos de las fuerzas especiales e inteligencia en la guerra contemporánea (Comandos - Challenges of the special forces and intelligence in contemporary warfare), in its Spanish and English versions, which marks a milestone in the international projection of the knowledge produced by the college. The work addresses the military, technological and strategic operational challenges faced by special forces in increasingly dynamic war environments, highlighting the importance of intelligence, adaptability and innovation as decisive factors in strategic superiority.
Finally, the Center for Strategic Studies on National Security and Defense conducted an academic debate to global audiences, about a real defense for emerging countries, generating a conversation that transcends borders and proposes new ways of interpreting security from the perspective of emerging countries, inviting to rethink traditional defense models, promoting more realistic, flexible approaches and aligned with the dynamics of the contemporary international system.
Through this agenda, the Superior War College reaffirms its leadership as a center of strategic thinking, capable of coordinating research, education and international projection around security and defense. Its participation in the FILBo 2026 not only strengthens the dissemination of knowledge, but in the same way positions Colombia in the global debate on new strategic environments, consolidating bridges among academia, the defense sector and society.
