A woman was arrested and a 17-year-old minor was apprehended in this axis during an operation of Colombian National Army against drug trafficking. Both were traveling on a collective passenger transport bus that covered the Cali-Barranquilla route, and were intercepted near de Calarcá, Quindío.
The result took place thanks to the permanent work of the troops of the High Mountain Battalion N.° 5, through a checkpoint on this strategic route, where the binomial trained dog Ely detected four suitcases with 120 packages of marijuana hidden in the vehicle's hold.
After the review by the authorities, it was confirmed that it was 59 kilograms of marijuana. The arrested woman was put into custody of the judicial authorities, while the minor was sent to the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute (ICBF).
According to information provided by the military unit, the illegal merchandise would be destined to supply criminal groups that operate in the department of Atlántico, specialized in the trafficking of psychoactive substances.
It is estimated that the value of the marijuana found amounts to 90 million pesos in Colombia and could reach 180,000 dollars in international markets.
