As part of Operation Artemisa, the Colombian Air Force, the National Army, the Colombian Navy, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office announced the finding and investigation of an area hit by the illegal extraction of mining deposits in the department of Choc贸.

This illegal activity was carried out in the area of Istmina, near the San Juan River, in which the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN, Ernesto Che Guevara front, generated a monthly production of approximately 18 kilos of gold, equivalent to more than $4,020,000,000 COP. During the inspection of the site, 12 mining production units and four excavators were found by troops, which were dismantled by the authorities.

With this important result, it was possible to get a reduction of the environmental impact on four hectares of vegetation and to prevent the deforestation of 2,400 trees, in the same way troops hit the finance group of the Organized Armed Group, GAO-ELN in this region of the country.
