Three members of the crime group were captured in flagrante for the crime of extortion, in the home of one of their victims, in the northwest of Bogotá.
Troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Cundinamarca, attached to the Thirteenth Brigade of the National Army, in coordination with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney’s Office, captured three men in flagrante delicto when they were collecting money from an extortion in the capital city of the country.
A prosecutor of the Sectional Directorate of Bogotá carried out the judicial process to the men, who allegedly at parties and social gatherings took data from the attendees and then extorted them. They, apparently, were part of the criminal group Los Fiesteros, which held private meetings in the San José de Bavaria neighborhood, in the district of Suba, inviting people through social networks. At the parties they apparently committed thefts and took information from the people who attended and then they extorted them.
The victims and their relatives were threatened with death and demanded that the money should be delivered in person by the victims, in their own homes, where the extortionists arrived to get it. One of the victims reported that these men demanded to bring the sound for the parties, but since they could not do so, they were threatened, so a demand of USD $284 was made for not having complied with what was requested.
In hearings, none of the defendants accepted the charges for the crime of aggravated extortion. Meanwhile, the municipal criminal control of guarantees judge 67 sent them to jail.
The National Army through the Thirteenth brigade continues to work to ensure the security of the capital city 24 hours a day.
