Three members of the ELN surrendered voluntarily in rural area of Risaralda.

Pereira, Risaralda. In recent hours, three members of the support network of the front "Manuel Hernández El boche" of the ELN, surrendered to the troops of the Artillery Battalion No. 8 "Batalla de San Mateo", in the municipality of Pueblo Rico (Risaralda). These people carried out intelligence and logistics tasks for this armed group that commits crimes in the north-western zone of Risaralda, in limits with the department of Chocó.

The Commander of the Artillery Battalion No. 8 "Batalla de San Mateo", assured that this type of voluntary demobilizations occurred due to threats received by these subversive groups, who in most cases exert pressure on these people and their families. Thus, so far this year, the Tactical Unit has managed to recover 10 people and disengaged a minor.

The Eighth Brigade, attached to the Fifth Division of the National Army, continues to carry out operations against illegal organizations with the objective of neutralizing the terrorist and criminal operations of these structures. The military commanders sent a message of support to all of the members of these subversive groups, inviting them to demobilize, stating that the National Army will always be providing support and protection in the process of reincorporation into civilian life.
