Three rudimentary fishermen rescued by the Colombian Navy

Tres pescadores artesanales rescatados por la Armada de Colombia

Coast Guard units of the Colombian Navy rescued three Colombian fishermen who were fishing in a rudimentary boat and adrift due to mechanical failures in the vicinity of Cayo Albuquerque Island, more than 46 kilometers of the island of San Andrés.

 

The search and rescue operation began because the Traffic Control and Maritime Surveillance System of the Maritime General Directorate - DIMAR received the emergency call via Navy VHF channel, by one of the crew of the ship La Consentida, indicating that they were without government due to failures in the main engine.

 

Rapid Reaction Units - URR in the area, moved to the scene of the events, where they verified the good health of the fishermen, they provided the technical support sought to then drive the ship along with its crew to another fishing boat that took them to a safe harbor.

 

“We had a mishap and thanks to the intervention of the Coastguards, we can return safely to our homes,” said Amauri Hanry, one of the rescued fishermen.

 

The Colombian Navy, through the Specific Command of San Andrés and Providencia, will continue to send of its naval resources and human talent to safeguard human life at sea of the island inhabitants, raizal and people of navigators of the Colombian North Caribbean.
