Three tons of marijuana found by Colombian National Army in the Department of La Guajira

Tres toneladas de marihuana incautadas por el Ejército Nacional en La Guajira

These military operations are being conducted to protect the inhabitants of the 30 municipalities of the department.

As part of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, aimed at combating illicit activities, soldiers of the Mechanized Cavalry Group No. 2, of the Tenth Brigade, found three tons of marijuana on a national highway in the municipality of San Juan, Department of La Guajira.

During the operation, more than 6,000 kilos of cannabis were seized, with an estimated cost in the illegal market of almost $11,000 million COP, in addition to a tractor trailer valued at $450 million COP, used for its transportation.

This result represents a powerful blow against the finances of organized armed groups, which use drug trafficking resources to finance criminal activities in the Caribbean region, harming the inhabitants and the Military Forces.

This operation was carried out, thanks to military intelligence and inter-institutional cooperation, preventing the drugs from reaching the streets, and contributing to the tranquility of citizens.
