In a joint operation conducted by the Command of air combat No. 6 of the Colombian Aerospace Force and the National Navy was rescued a sloth bear that was drifting, floating in the waters of the Caquet谩 River, the timely sighting by military personnel led to an immediate reaction to safeguard the animal's life, preventing it from being swept away by the current.
Following the established protocols for wildlife management and in coordination with Corpoamazon铆a, the specimen received the necessary assistance to work for its well-being, later, it was taken to a wooded area, safe and suitable for its specimen, where it could return to its natural environment, away from the risks of the river and inhabited areas.
The Bradypus variegatus, known as the three-toed sloth, is an emblematic mammal of the country's tropical forests, it can live for more than 20 years in its natural habitat and spends about 80% of its time resting among the branches, which makes it a symbol of adaptation in the Amazonian ecosystems.
The Colombian Aerospace Force continues to work for the preservation of the fauna and flora of the Colombian southeast, working for the preservation of biodiversity and contributing to the conservation of the specimens that inhabit the Amazon region.
