Among those arrested are some individuals who minutes earlier had allegedly attacked the soldiers who were in a military operation carried out by the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Oriente against Extortion and Kidnapping, in the village of El Vergel, municipality of Granada, Antioquia.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, in order to weaken the resources of the threat, units of the Fourth Brigade of Colombian National Army arrested several members of the Clan del Golfo.
Thanks to the denunciation of a citizen, who exposed the illegal activities suffered for several months at the hands of members of the so called Saman谩 Pacificadores Substructure, of the Clan del Golfo, the Eastern Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) activated the military operation protocols necessary to investigate and verify the situation.
This is how the Intelligence Unit began to recognize the sector and collect the necessary information to initiate the tactical procedures and the military operation to find those responsible for illegal activities in the municipality of Granada.
In the early hours of the morning of this Friday, January 10, Gaula units carrying out operations in the village of El Vergel, a rural area of the municipality of Granada, Antioquia, were attacked with riflefire by GAO members hidden in one of the farms in the sector, a situation that left two soldiers injured. Immediately, the soldiers who were in support reacted to find the wounded and start the pursuit of the criminals.
Minutes later, on the road that connects San Carlos to Granada, soldiers of the Special Energy and Road Battalion No. 4 intercepted four individuals who were traveling on two motorcycles, who were carrying three pistols, ammunition and six cell phones. During the identification process, it was possible to establish that these individuals were the same ones who had attacked the soldiers, minutes earlier.
This military operation significantly impacts the Saman谩 Pacificadores Substructure of the Clan del Golfo, since among those arrested are key people who would be responsible for managing criminal activities, such as extortion and kidnapping. In addition to being the possible responsible for the forced displacement of farmers, ranchers, workers and merchants in the region.
The injured soldiers were immediately taken to the health care centers and, according to medical reports, are out of danger. We continue to provide all the support and assistance to the heroes.
