These individuals were asking for 100 million pesos in exchange for not attacking the victim's life.
Within the framework of a coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy and the National Police, in the municipality of Tumaco – Nariño, it was possible to arrest 11 individuals accused of holding a woman against her will, for extortion purposes.
The procedure began after receiving an alert from the Network of Cooperators of the National Police, who informed the Naval Institution about the alleged kidnapping of the administrator of a hotel in the urban area of the District of this municipality.
Immediately, troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Tumaco went to the area to find the 45-year-old woman, who was inside the establishment and, noticing the activity of the authorities, asked for help, facilitating her rescue.
At the scene of the events, 11 men were arrested in flagrante delicto, who, apparently, would be members of the Residual Organized Armed Group Alfonso Cano; they would have demanded 100 million pesos from the victim, in exchange for not attacking her life.
The individuals were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office, to answer for the crime of aggravated extortion kidnapping. The rescued woman was taken by the Colombian navy units to the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) facilities in Tumaco, to receive medical assistance.
