Two alleged members of the GAO Clan del Golfo arrested

The Colombian Navy, in coordination with the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, announced the arrest of two alleged members of the Manuel José Gaitan substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the department of Sucre.

 

Troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.14, the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Sucre and units of the National Police arrested two individuals, including alias Sangre, alleged urban ringleader in the municipalities of Palmitos and Ovejas, Sucre. At the time of the arrest, a shotgun, 126 5.56-millimeter caliber cartridges and military accessories material were found by troops in his possession.

 

Alias Sangre would have a criminal experience of more than 10 years within the criminal organization and would be responsible for conducting targeted killings against the Military Forces, as well as the traffic of narcotic drugs, collection of money from extortion, realization of operations against the citizens and terrorist activities of incineration of motor vehicles and motorcycles, distributing pamphlets of the Autodefensas Gaitanistas de Colombia (AGC) with messages alluding to armed restrictions in the department of Sucre.

 

The arrested were put into custody of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office 138 of the Specialized Directorate Against Criminal Organizations (DECOC) for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition.
