Two anti-personnel mines destroyed in humanitarian demining work

desminado_ejercito_huila_.jpg

The continuous operations carried out by the Humanitarian Demining Battalion No. 5 of the Ninth Brigade leads to continue decontaminating the Huila department country lands. In recent hours the permanent work of the demining soldiers led to the finding and controlled destruction of two anti-personnel mines.

On this occasion, the clearing work and the use of the manual demining technique, led to neutralizing the threats that these deadly traps represented for the inhabitants of the village of La Libertad, in the north of the Department.

These elements were two anti-personnel mines, approximately 200 grams of explosive material each, in a plastic container and with an electric initiation system that translated into a risk for the peasant inhabitants and for the fauna of the sector.

Immediately and implementing the security protocols and their instruction by the OAS in the implementation of operational procedures, the soldiers proceeded to the total destruction of these devices.

It is noteworthy that before carrying out the destruction procedures, people were informed and it was reiterated the need to continue to have the culture of self-care.

Demining soldiers continue to work to save lives and the good physical condition of people living in rural areas.
