The heavy military operation and the tireless campaigns being carried out by the Third Brigade helped that this week two members of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) ELN, made the decision to surrender to the troops.

The military pressure of the Infantry Battalion Vencedores No. 23, of the Third Brigade, military unit of the Third Division of the National Army, achieved the surrender of alias Rojas and alias Valentina, members of the Compañia Néstor Tulio Durán, of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) ELN, in the municipality of Cartago, Valle del Cauca.

This couple reports that they made the decision to lay down their firearms and to leave the terrorist group because of the constant ill-treatment by the ringleaders. They also stated that for several years both had health problems and that the organization did not support them with the financial resources for specialized medical assistance.

Alias Rojas served as finance ringleader during of 12 years in this company. He also carried out criminal intelligence activities for the achieving of terrorist operations against military units, kidnappings to the mining sector and targeted killings in the region of Bojayá.

On the other hand, alias Valentina, during thirteen months in this company, is the couple of alias Rojas and was in charge of collecting “vaccines” (type of extortion) or taxes to drug traffickers in this area of the country.
