Two individuals, who were felling trees near a river, were captured

The two men, through the illicit use of renewable natural resources, harmed the water source of Ca帽o Acac铆as, which provides the Campo Alegre village of Vista Hermosa, Meta, with water.

Troops of the Joint Task Force Omega, conducted military operations to counter deforestation under the guidelines of the National Government to preserve water, biodiversity and the environment. The troops captured in flagrante delicto two individuals when they were cutting down trees.

Soldiers of the Ground Operations Battalion No.6, through information provided by the Civic Participation Network, arrived at the Campo Alegre village, in the municipality of Vista Hermosa, where they detected two men cutting bushes down with chainsaws.

In this place, the troops found 90 wooden slats, 69 boards and two chainsaws. The material and the two captured were put into custody of the authority for their respective judicial process.

This leads to neutralize criminal activities carried out by Organized Gangs against nature, fauna and flora.

The illicit use of Natural Resources is defined in Article 328 of the Colombian Penal Code, contributing to the International Convention on Biological Biodiversity, which was signed by 150 government leaders at Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit in 1992, to promote sustainable development in the countries that make it up.
