Two laboratories for the production of illicit substances in Catatumbo have been dismantled

Inside these illegal structures troops found 900 kilograms of chopped coca leaf and 700 gallons of gasoline.

 

In military operations carried out in the Catatumbo region to neutralize the logistical and financial operations of the criminal groups that converge there, and within the framework of the Heroes of Freedom Campaign Plan, troops of the Vulcano Task Force are in the rural zone of the municipalities of Convencion and Teorama, in Norte de Santander, found two laboratories for the production of illicit substances, which would belong to the Organized Armed Group, GAO - Eln.

 

The first operation against the drug trafficking was carried out in La Ventanas, Teorama municipality, a place where men belonging to the Ground Operations Battalion No.8, found a coca base paste production laboratory, where individuals stored 500 gallons of gasoline, 500 kilograms of chopped coca leaf, 100 kilograms of ammonia sulfate, 30 kilograms of urea and 20 plastic barrels.

 

In parallel operations carried out by the same unit, on the Macanal – Soledad path, in the municipality of Convencion, another laboratory for production coca base paste was found. At the site, 400 kilograms of chopped coca leaf, 200 gallons of gasoline and 29 metal barrels were found.

 

In 2020, the Vulcano Task Force has found 57 laboratories for the production of illicit substances in the Catatumbo region, through decisive military operations carried out jointly and in coordination with the Colombian Air Force and the National Police.
