Within the framework of maritime security and control operations, carried out by the Colombian Navy in the Gorgona National Natural Park, the Guapi-Cauca municipality, the rescue of two people, who had shipwrecked, was carried out because the ship in which they were traveling had engine failures, which prevented the propulsion and direction of the boat.
The rescue was carried out quickly, thanks to the activity of the Coast Guard personnel on Gorgona Island, who on board a Rapid Reaction Unit – URR, on patrol duties, found a boat adrift with two crew members on board, who said they had been shipwrecked for more than seven hours.
Immediately, the sailors of Colombia safeguarded the lives of the occupants by proceeding to tow the boat to Gorgona Island, where they provided them with first aid and were provided with food. After that, the necessary coordination was carried out with the families for their return to the place of origin.
