In a UH-60 helicopter two wild animals return to their natural habitat

En un helicóptero UH-60 dos animales silvestres regresan a su hábitat natural

In an inter-institutional effort to protect and preserve the country's biodiversity, the Colombian Aerospace Force participated in the rescue of a Woolly Tigrillo (Leopardus Tigrinus) and a Fox (Cerdocyon thous), which were part of a complex rehabilitation and recovery process, carried out at the Wildlife Care and Assessment Center (CAV) of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of the Negro and Nare River Basins, CORNARE.

The wild specimens were transported by air in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, from the Air Combat Command No.5, CACOM 5, in the municipality of Rionegro, Antioquia, to a protected area in the vicinity of the municipality of San Carlos, Antioquia, which was carefully chosen for its suitability for the well-being and survival of the specimens.

The rescue took place in a high mountain terrain, so the helicopter transport was essential to facilitate the transfer of the two animals in a fast and safe way.

The Colombian Aerospace Force, through CACOM 5, will continue to contribute to the preservation of the environment and to raising awareness about the importance of protecting wildlife, taking care of specimens such as the fox and the woolly tiger that play a fundamental role in the ecosystems of the country.
