United for Security: Air Force protects the Department of Chocó

Unidos por la Seguridad: Fuerza Aérea protege el Chocó

Due to the law and order situation in the department of Chocó, as a result of the indefinite armed forced strike announced by the ELN, the Military Forces are permanently in the region, deploying their resources to protect the inhabitants and prevent criminal operations.

That is why the Colombian Air Force through the Air Combat Command No. 5 in Rionegro, Antioquia, it has deployed UH-60 Arpía helicopters and surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft to strengthen the security of those who live in this area of the country, maintaining preparedness and supporting troops on the ground, since people in this department are going through complex situations of confinement, accidents with anti-personnel mines, forced displacements, blockades and difficulties in mobility.

Overflights are constantly being made over the municipalities of Nóvita, Istmina, Medio San Juan, Sipí and Litoral del San Juan, monitoring and exercising control and surveillance of the territory, in the same way providing information to the troops of the Joint Task Force TITAN in case of detecting any anomalous situation.

There are in the same way different land checkpoints by Colombian National Army and river checkpoints by the Navy Infantry in a joint operation, joining efforts in order to counter the operations by the guerrilla groups, protecting and preserving the fundamental rights of the inhabitants.
