In the framework of military operations, three members of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo died, and five of its members were arrested. It was in the same way possible to find war material.
In compliance with the objectives of the Ayacucho Joint Strategic Campaign Plan, troops of the Seventeenth Brigade, of the Seventh Division of Colombian National Army, in an important operation against members of the GAO Clan del Golfo, fought against the Carlos Vásquez Substructure, in the rural area of the village of San José de León, in the municipality of Mutatá, in the department Antioquia.
As a result of this operation, the troops reported the death in the framework of operations of three members of this GAO, as well as five arrested individuals who were injured and received humanitarian assistance from combat nurses, as a sign of compliance and respect for human rights and compliance with international humanitarian law, even though these individuals had attacked the military minutes before. They were later airlifted out of the area to receive medical assistance.
In the same way, during the operation it was possible to find important war material, such as long weapons, magazines and ammunition, as well as material of military accessories and communications.
Through this important result, we can significantly hit the armed capacity of the GAO Clan del Golfo in the Urabá region, which weakens its criminal operations focused mainly on its expansionist projection; in this way, any operation that puts the life of the communities of the sector at risk is countered.
