The United States Coast Guard Command, through Admiral Karl Schultz, made recognition to the Colombian Navy for its leadership in the framework of the Naval campaign against drug trafficking Orion, whose main objective is the fight against transnational criminal organizations.

This campaign, which is positioned as the largest operation against drug trafficking in world history, has the active and coordinated participation of 29 countries and 61 institutions, represented by navies, coastguards, Police, Air and ground forces, as well as the most important intelligence and law enforcement agencies in the world.

With operations within the framework of the Orion campaign, since 2018, more than 284 thousand kilograms of cocaine and 63 thousand kilograms of marijuana have been prevented from arriving on the streets of the world, from where 868 million doses would be produced.

This strategy, based on the principle of shared responsibility in the face of the common threat of drug trafficking and its related crimes, seeks national, regional and global integration to coordinate and focus operational efforts aimed at breaking transnational illegal flows.
