Two Nicaraguans and a Colombian were arrested during the operation.
Through this interception, the distribution of more than 300 thousand doses of narcotics on the streets of the world was prevented.
1,936 kilograms of marijuana were found by troops by units of the Colombian Navy during comprehensive maritime security and control operations, when they were transported in a ship manned by three individuals, in the waters of the department of Valle del Cauca.
The interception began when a Naval Institution ship in the Central Pacific, detected with its radars a boat traveling suspiciously in the area. Immediately, a Rapid Reaction Unit - URR of the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, moved to the place to carry out the corresponding operation.
During the search inside the boat, which was crewed by two Nicaraguans and a Colombian, 78 sacks of different shapes and sizes were found by troops, apparently with illicit substances.
Subsequently, the Sailors of Colombia transported the personnel, the material and the ship named “Dios me Guía”, to the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura, where the Technical Investigation Corps – CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH, determining that it was 1,936 kilograms of marijuana.
Through this powerful operation, the entry of more than 12 million dollars into the finances of drug trafficking organizations was prevented, as well as the commercialization of 300 thousand doses of narcotics on the international illegal market.
So far this year, in the Colombian Pacific, the Naval Institution has found 290 tons of narcotics, of which 234 are cocaine hydrochloride and 56 marijuana.
