Through this result, more than 21 million dollars were prevented from entering the finances of drug trafficking organizations.
During the procedure, two Colombians were arrested.
During comprehensive maritime control and security operations carried out by the Colombian Navy in the waters of the North Pacific, it was possible to confiscate about half a ton of cocaine hydrochloride, which was hidden in a double bottom of a lobster boat.
This result was thanks to the action of the crew members of the Bahía Solano Coast Guard Station, who, guided by naval intelligence information, deployed a Rapid Reaction Unit to the area, conducting the maritime interception procedure to a boat, which was traveling suspiciously with two individuals of Colombian nationality on board.
When carrying out the inspection of the ship, the members of the Military Forces found a double bottom, so they decided to transport the personnel and elements to the facilities of the Naval Institution in Bahía Solano, Chocó department, to carry out a detailed inspection.
Due to adverse weather conditions in the area, the boat capsized in the sea, so it had to be towed by Coast Guard personnel, with support of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.23.
Once the boat was refloated, 457 rectangular packages were found by troops, apparently with illicit substances. The Criminal Investigation Section – SIJÍN - of the National Police carried out the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, confirming that it was 455 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
The two individuals arrested along with the illegal merchandise were put into custody of the authorities to continue with the prosecution process.
Through this result, more than 21 million dollars stopped entering the transnational crime of drug trafficking and more than one million doses of alkaloids stopped being sold on the international illicit market.
