The rescue work on the Ariari River area continues, since, due to the constant rains of recent days, it has overflowed in a large part of its channel over several municipalities of Meta department, increasing the number of people hit; so, in the municipality of El Dorado, five people, including an elderly woman and a man with a disability, resulted isolated, requiring the reaction of the Colombian Aerospace Air Force crews.
Once the coordination was carried out by the municipal authorities, the National Risk and Natural Disaster Management Unit, UNGRD and the National Personnel Recovery Center, CENRP, crew members and rescuers in a UH-60 Angel helicopter of the Air Combat Command No. 2, CACOM 2, reacted in a timely manner to the village of Isla del Eden, where in the middle of the night, the rushing waters of the river flooded a house with five isolated people.
Using the expertise and experience of the pilots, it was possible to land in a small safe area where the rescuers disembarked until they reached the house to evacuate of the place an elderly woman who had difficulty walking, an adult man with a cognitive disability and three other people, taking them to the aircraft, where they verified that they were stable in health. Later, they were transferred to the upper part of the urban area to be handed over to the municipality's relief agencies.
In this way, we continue to save lives in the midst of the heavy rainy season that the Eastern Plains region is experiencing, maintaining a high degree of preparation of crews and aircraft for the protection of the inhabitants at the time and place required.
