As part of comprehensive maritime control and security operations, in the bay of Buenaventura - Valle del Cauca, units of the Colombian Navy recovered weapons that had been thrown into the sea from a boat, by criminals who were fleeing the place when they noticed the military activity.
The operation began when, during maritime control and surveillance patrols in the area carried out by a unit of the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station, a boat that was traveling suspiciously was identified. Upon noticing the activity of the Sailors, the individuals threw a sack into the water and made evasive maneuvers until entering through an estuary.
The Coast Guard crews recovered the sack and made arrangements for the Navy Infantry personnel to check the estuary. However, despite the efforts made to find the whereabouts of the criminals, it was not possible to find them.
The package was taken to the Coast Guard Station in Buenaventura, it was verified, finding four rifles, 172 cartridges and five magazines, which were put into custody of the authorities.
