In Chaparral, south of Tolima, two elderly people were benefited with a wheelchair and a 21-year-old girl with a walker, donated by the Arturo Calle Foundation and given by soldiers of the Comprehensive Action and Development Support Battalion No.5 and its program Fe en Colombia.
Soldiers of the National Army in coordination with the private companies, continue to improve the quality of life of vulnerable people in the country and together with the program Fe en Colombia made a new distribution, this time, of two wheelchairs and a walker. In a previous opportunity, three elderly people were benefited with three wheelchairs.
Mrs. Virgenis Triana Ramírez, mother of Dayhane Sánchez Triana, the 21-year-old who benefited of the Walker, said: “before my daughter used diapers, it was necessary to use a spoon to feed her like a little girl. Karen can now eat alone; she brushes herself, thanks God. Now she has a nurse and I thank the National Army for the walker for her, she will now be able to be a little bit more independent.”
In the same way, mr. Jacinto Gaitán Álvarez, 93 years old and mrs. Rosalbina Bonilla de Nagles, 84 years old, were in the same way the two elderly beneficiaries with a wheelchair each. The National Army arrived at each of their homes to distribute the chairs they had needed for years.
During the fieldwork carried out by the program Fe en Colombia, the team has met people in vulnerable conditions, it has received their medical records to subsequently make contact with private companies to carry out the management of resources and assets, in order to distribute them and benefit the community.
For his part, Captain Juan Manuel Bustamante Laguna, commander (appointed) of the Comprehensive Action and Development Support Battalion No.5, added: "We continue to put our hand in the heart with the Colombians who need us most; we arrive at their homes to improve their quality of life. This is nothing more than a very small piece of what we are doing in the south of Tolima and the entire Colombian territory.”
