In the southeast of the country, 24 rescued wild animals, classified as endangered specimens, were released, this thanks to the joint work of the Colombian Aerospace Force with the Colombian Navy, a coordinated work with the Corporation for the Sustainable Development of the Southern Amazon, CORPOAMAZONÍA and the wildlife transit home of the University of the department of Amazonas.
After completing a process of adaptation to wildlife, emblematic specimens such as turtles, opossums, mountain dogs, tusumbos, the charapa, ferret, an otter, an anaconda, among other specimens, were reintroduced into their natural habitat, after being transported in a Huey II helicopter of the Air Combat Command No.6 CACOM-6 from the capital city of Caquetá to get home again.
After analyzing the appropriate geographical location so that each one can fulfill its life cycle, they were reintroduced into wooded areas of the departments of Caquetá and Putumayo, far from communities that can take over or disrupt their natural process and behavior. It was thus that on the borders with the Putumayo River and the Caquetá River, water animals such as turtles, Anaconda and Otter were released, while land animals were set free by troops in the middle of the Amazon rainforest.
Within this group of animals, there was a Venadero Dog that by 2022 was assisted and evacuated by the CACOM-6, this after being rescued in the village of El Cuerazo, in the municipality of Solano. Now, after two years this animal returned to its natural ecosystem without any medical complications that endanger its existence.
These rescues were made to contribute to the preservation, protection and care of wild specimens that are a strategic asset for the country; that is why the Colombian Aerospace Force through its resources will continue to support this type of sustainable operations for the natural wealth of the nation.
