After 42 days of mission, the XVII Colombia – Peru 2026 Binational Development Support Campaign successfully ended in Iquitos, Peru, an initiative that, once again, demonstrated that cooperation between nations has the power to transform lives and bring the State closer to those who live in the most remote territories of the Amazon.
Since May 3, the Colombian Navy, through the Naval Force of the Amazon and the Peruvian Navy joined human, logistical and military operation resources to provide comprehensive care to thousands of families settled on the banks of the Putumayo and Amazon rivers, reaffirming the commitment of both institutions to the well-being and development of their villages.
The closing ceremony, held in the city of Iquitos, was presided over by Vice Admiral Percy Pérez Bramosio, Chief of Operations of the Amazon of the Peruvian Navy and Rear Admiral Alfonso Córdoba García, Commander of the Naval Force of the Amazon of the Colombian Navy, who highlighted the value of this binational mission as a symbol of brotherhood, integration and vocation of service for both countries.
On board the Colombian units ARC TECIM Eddic Cristian Reyes Holguín and the ARC Vladimir Valeck, as well as the Peruvian ships BAP Clavero and BAP Pastaza, sailors, health professionals, volunteers and allied institutions sailed for 338 hours, traveling 3,000 kilometers to reach 21 communities: 17 in Colombia and four in Peru, bringing care and hope to communities where access to these services is usually under limitations.
The report of the campaign shows the services provided : 11,301 people benefited, including 5,000 Peruvian citizens, who received 21,426 services in general medicine, pediatrics, dentistry, physiotherapy, psychology, recreational activities and psychosocial counseling spaces.
In the same way, 11,417 medicines were distributed, 1,888 under medical prescription, 1,789 aid kits, 2,754 boxes of liquid food supplement and 3,578 kilograms of powdered food supplement, significantly contributing to improving the living conditions and nutrition of children, older adults and families in vulnerable conditions.
This mission in the same way had the valuable support of allied institutions such as the Cardio Clinic Foundation, the Fernando Murillo Foundation, the Minuto de Dios Foundation, the Fundación de Ganaderos, the Sueños de Luna Foundation, the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, the Banco de Medicamentos Organization, the SensoLife Organization, the National Customs Directorate and the Professional Officers of the Naval Reserve, whose commitment and solidarity made it possible to expand the scope of the activities and provide more comprehensive care to the Amazonian communities.
The XVII Colombia - Peru 2026 Binational Development Support Campaign confirms that international cooperation, coordinated work and the vocation of service are fundamental tools to build well-being, strengthen institutional activity and strengthen the historical ties of partnership between the two nations.
