Through these operations, more than 7 million doses of narcotics were prevented from being marketed on the streets of the world.
Within the framework of joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operations against the transnational crime of drug trafficking, the Colombian Navy has, so far this year, discovered and destroyed 169 illegal constructions used for the production of coca paste base.
The operations were carried out in the municipalities of Tumaco, Mosquera, Olaya Herrera, Francisco Pizarro, La Tola, El Charco, Agua Clara and Santa Bárbara de Iscuandé, in the department of Nariño, thanks to the constant operation of the units of the Navy Infantry Brigade No. 4.
These constructions, designed for the production of coca base paste, had the capacity to produce tons of narcotics per month. Inside, 16,547 kilograms of solid supplies and 68,189 gallons of liquid supplies were found by troops, as well as 2,823 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
During these operations, 18 boats, a semi-submarine, war material were in the same way found, and it was possible to arrest 50 people, linked to these illegal activities.
According to naval intelligence information, the laboratories would belong to the Residual Organized Armed Groups, Coordinadora Guerrillera del Pacífico, Iván Ríos Structure and Jacobo Arenas Western Bloc - Rafael Aguilera Structure, criminal organizations that use drug trafficking as the main source of financing for their criminal operations against the Military Forces and the communities of the Nariño South Pacific region.
It should be noted that, for the construction and operation of each of these constructions, the individuals destroy more than one hectare of natural resources, generating significant environmental damage. In the same way, the chemical residues used in the production of narcotics are indiscriminately dumped into soils and water sources, aggravating the levels of pollution in the region.
