In Inírida, department of Guainía, a group of young volunteers from different regions are transforming the country through Medical and Humanitarian Assistance Activities, AAMHU, led by the Colombian Aerospace Force, the Military Forces and different foundations, who coordinate health services aimed at vulnerable inhabitants and indigenous communities. In the first activity of the year, held in the department, youth was the protagonist, because it facilitated access to quality medical services and contributed to the comprehensive well-being of the inhabitants of the entire region.
Laura Daniela Balaguera, a 23-year-old physiotherapist from Santander, was an example of hard work and willingness, when she traveled by land for more than eight hours from the municipality of Malaga, in her homeland, to the city of Bogotá, to later board a military aircraft early in the day that transported her to the Colombian Orinoquia, to live her fourth experience in an AAMHU, with the sole purpose of contributing from her profession to the improvement of health services and the quality of life of the inhabitants of Inírida.
From their different professional areas, young people transform Colombia by contributing their knowledge and resources to provide medical assistance, guidance and accompaniment to communities, strengthening the social fabric and promoting decent health conditions in hard-to-reach territories, thus joining the inter-institutional coordination and solidarity commitment of the Military Forces, through Colombian National Army, Colombian Navy, National Police and the Mayor of Inírida, as well as the efforts of foundations such as Juan N. Corpas, Corporación Organización el Minuto de Dios, Fernando Murillo Foundation and Sentipensante.
The logistics arranged by the Colombian Aerospace Force, through its different Air Military Units, UMA, managed the volunteers to shorten geographical distances and unite wills in favor of regional development. In this way, the institutional commitment is reaffirmed, which has all its resources at the service of the inhabitants, especially in the most remote areas of the country.
During the activity, the strength and vitality of the youth was demonstrated, making it clear that there is a certain power that grows every day: the vocation of service. From Guainía, the youngest are grateful for such a valuable opportunity to get to know the territory, interact with their communities and contribute their knowledge and profession, to social transformation, that is why the Colombian Aerospace Force will continue to bring wills closer to the villages, serving the Nation and consolidating environments of security, well-being and progress for all Colombians.
