As part of the territorial control operations being carried out in the department of Huila, troops of the Ninth Brigade of Colombian National Army, through the 26th Cacique Pigoanza Infantry Battalion, in coordination with the Special Operations Group of the Huila Police (GOES), struck a powerful blow against drug trafficking.
During patrols in the village of Bajo Cabuyal, a rural area of the municipality of La Plata, it was detected an abandoned suspicious vehicle. When proceeding with the inspections on the car, 35 large packages wrapped in black vinyl tape were found by troops inside containing a plant substance with characteristics similar to marijuana.
After the review and once the corresponding weighing had been carried out, it was established that the shipment reached 180 kilograms of the narcotic.
Taking into account that an average dose of marijuana is equivalent to 0.5 grams, this finding represents the circulation output of approximately 360,000 doses, preventing their illegal marketing and consumption, especially among young people and minors.
This result of the military operation constitutes a significant success in the fight against drug trafficking and a concrete contribution to the protection of public health and citizen security, by preventing psychoactive substances from reaching school, community and family environments, where they generate addiction, violence and social deterioration.
The Ninth Brigade of Colombian National Army reaffirms its commitment to the protection of Huila communities and will continue to carry out joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operations, with the objective of working for a safe territory free of illicit activities.
