Military engineers present two bridges in the department of Cordoba in less than 15 days

Ingenieros Militares entregan dos puentes en Córdoba en menos de 15 días

In an unprecedented event for the region, Colombian National Army, through its Military Engineers, has distributed in less than two weeks two modular bridges that restore mobility, reactivate the economy and restore connectivity to thousands of families in Tierralta, Córdoba.

The first bridge is installed over the Tay stream, it was completed on July 24, 2025, and it consists on a semi-permanent modular metal bridge of triple reinforced configuration type Acrow, with a length of 51.81 meters and a load capacity of up to 52 tons.

This work, executed in 14 days by 25 soldiers, restored traffic for more than 39,000 people from about 50 rural communities, since the heavy rains of April caused the collapse of the original structure.

The second bridge was inaugurated today in the Cairo sector, it is a united states -made 3S-type Bridge structure, with a length of 36.51 meters and a load capacity of 40 tons, which directly benefits more than 16,000 people from Upper Sinu. Its installation took 10 days of uninterrupted work by the soldiers of the 90th Special Operations Engineer Battalion, in coordination with the Government of Córdoba, the Mayor's Office of Tierralta and the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD).

Both works not only restore mobility, but in the same way strengthen the trade in agricultural products, promote agribusiness and increase access to basic services, marking a before and after in the life of these communities. "These bridges are a sign of, with the union of resources and wills, real works of impact that we can build," said one of the officers in charge.

Through these consecutive inaugurations, Colombian National Army reaffirms its commitment to  the country and to the positive transformation of the territories, bringing not only security, but concrete solutions that dignify the lives of citizens and close social gaps.
