Rescue soldiers complement the first preparation exercise for the international reclassification of the USAR COL-1

Soldados rescatistas se suman al primer ejercicio

The initiative led by the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), in the INSARAG program of the United Nations, is carried out in the municipality of Montenegro, department of Quindío, with the participation of units belonging to accredited USAR groups.

The reclassification of the USAR COL-1 is part of a demanding evaluation process before the United Nations, through the International Search and Rescue Operations Advisory Group (INSARAG), which seeks to revalidate the team's capacity under international standards.

The USAR COL-1 team is composed of 160 women and men accredited by the UNGRD, who represent the best of the country's response resources. With a vocation for service, discipline and commitment to the protection of life, the rescue soldiers participate together with institutions such as the Civil Defense, the Colombian Red Cross, the Firefighters and the National Police.

This meeting marks a milestone by bringing together for the first time the Amarillo Structure, a key component of the USAR system that integrates all the necessary roles to respond in a coordinated and efficient way to complex disaster environments.
