The two men, who surrendered, one from the south of Tolima and the other born in a municipality in the department of Meta, were apparently members of the group alias El Paisa Yerminson, the main ringleader of the GAO-r E1 Armando R铆os, of the Central General Staff of the FARC.
The stability operations that are being carried out to counteract factors of instability, such as illegal activities in the department de Guaviare, have been contributing to the weakening of the structures of the illegal armed groups, which continue to make the systematic practice of violating international humanitarian law by including in their ranks the inhabitants, who are not participants in the armed conflict, through the modality of deception, with fake job offers in farms.
The military operation of the Twenty-Second Rainforest Brigade of the Army, the Navy of Colombia and the National Police led two individuals voluntarily to surrender to the troops of the Infantry Battalion N潞 24, in the village La Leona, of the municipality of San Jos茅 del Guaviare.
Once it was possible to protect the two dissidents, the respective procedures were initiated before the Humanitarian Assistance Group for the Demobilized of the Ministry of National Defense, working to increase their security and facilitating the process of restoring their fundamental rights. In the same way, they went to the Attorney General's Office in San Jos茅 del Guaviare, to validate their legal status as members of the GAO-r and to carry out the relevant surrender procedures.
The two men stated that they received bad treatments and constant threats, and they in the same way said that their love for their family motivated them to not to continue in the residual organized armed group that commits crimes in the department of Guaviare.
It should be recalled that, at the beginning of the year, three minors were recovered from the same illegal armed structure in the municipality of Puerto Lleras, department of Meta.
