In a great event for the construction of peace in this village of the municipality of Argelia, more than 1,800 people benefited with medical services, distribution of school kits and wellbeing activities that the soldiers of Colombian National Army and the allies of the Unified operations conducted in the region.
Among the mountains of the Cordillera Occidental is El Mango, a village in the municipality of Argelia, Cauca, where the Third Division and the Cauca Specific Command are currently carrying out a military strategy that seeks to recover and stabilize these territories inhabited by peasant communities that have been hit by the existence of illegal armed groups and illicit plantations.
Colombian National Army along with the Faith in Colombia program arrived at this populated center to continue working for the construction of peace of the community and the strengthening of trust with the inhabitants, through a health and well-being activity in which more than 1800 people participated who gathered in the main park to be assisted by the Professional Reserve Officers in the Mobile Ambulance Unit.
During the meeting, young people, adults and older adults received assistance in general medicine, dentistry, oral hygiene, psychology, urology and medication distribution services, while the children enjoyed the recreational activities carried out by the soldiers of the Comprehensive Action and Development Support Battalion No. 3 with inflatables, cotton candy, distribution of school kits and toys.
In the same way, Brigadier General Federico Mejía, commander of the Cauca Specific Command, who led this activity, gave the people livestock seed capital, fertilizer, fruit trees and fertilizers, with which the idea is to support the productive projects that are being conducted in the municipality by the different peasant associations that have been working on the substitution of plantations for illicit use.
