Military bridges restore mobility between Cúcuta and Ocaña: more than 300,000 inhabitants of Catatumbo benefited

Thanks to the work carried out by the Military Engineers, it was possible to install two modular structures, which will connect the city of Cúcuta with the municipalities of Ocaña, Ábrego and the north of the country.

In a ceremony accompanied by Invias and civil authorities, Colombian National Army presented the second military bridge installed in El Tarrita sector, which returns mobility to the Cúcuta- Ocaña road axis, in Norte de Santander.

On May 31, an avalanche occurred due to heavy rains, which caused the total closure of this route, in addition to other damages in the sector, so Colombian National Army sent its Differential Resources to provide support to the people and install two military bridges. One in the El Turco sector and one in the El Tarrita sector, both would have the capacity to withstand up to 52 tons.

About 40 men of the Special Brigade of Engineers worked tirelessly for 56 days for the installation of two structures that will be put into service of Colombians starting today.

In this way, the restoration of this connection contributes to the economy of this department, to benefit more than 300,000 inhabitants of the Catatumbo region.

In addition to this, the soldiers of the Second Division of Colombian National Army contributed to the perimeter security of the area in which our military engineers were found by troops, working to ensure their safety, as well as the good physical condition of the inhabitants and civil authorities who came to this point to witness the progress of the works.
