About 40 million dollars stopped entering the finances of drug trafficking organizations

With these results, the commercialization of approximately three million doses of narcotics on the international illegal market was prevented.

The results took place in the north of the department of La Guajira.

In the last week, the Colombian Navy, through the Caribbean Naval Force, stepped up its operation against the transnational crime of illicit drug trafficking, reporting three large finds exceeding one thousand kilograms of narcotics, which represents a blow close to 40 million dollars against criminal organizations that commit crimes in this region of the country.

The first operation was carried out by Surface units, Coastguards and Naval Aviation of the Colombian Navy jointly with an aircraft of the Colombian Air Force, which found 499 kilograms of cocaine and 1.15 kilograms of marijuana contained in 26 bags, on board a go fast type boat which was crewed by four individuals of Venezuelan nationality.

In the second result, 15 sacks with 413.5 kilograms of cocaine and 5.8 kilograms of marijuana were found by troops, which were being transported by four Dominicans inside a boat. This important finding was made thanks to the operation of Surface and Coast Guard units, together with a helicopter of the Colombian Navy, which worked in a multinational way with an aircraft of the Interagency Joint Task Force of the Southern Command of the United States - JIATFS and an air platform of the Netherlands.

In the third operation, three individuals of Dominican nationality were arrested, after the detection and maritime interception of a ship, in which they were transporting 11 sacks with narcotic substances. For this result, Surface and Coast Guard Resources of the Colombian Navy were combined with an aerial platform of JIATFS. The material was analyzed establishing that it was 271.1 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and 468 grams of marijuana.

The arrested personnel and the material were put into custody of the authorities to continue with the prosecution process.

Thanks to these joint and multinational operations carried out by authorities from Colombia, the United States and the Netherlands, the commercialization of 2.9 million doses of cocaine and 1,200 doses of marijuana on the international illegal market was prevented.

It should be noted that, in 2023, the Caribbean Naval Force has found more than 68.7 tons of cocaine hydrochloride and 2.7 tons of marijuana, preventing the entry of more than $2.3 billion into the logistical and financial structures of organizations serving drug trafficking.
