Five grenades and two explosive devices were destroyed under controlled conditions, thus preventing loss to the physical condition of the troops and civilians.
Joint military operations of the Colombian Navy with the National Army, within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan, led to the neutralization of the threat of a possible terrorist operation against the troops and communities living in a rural area of the municipality of Barrancominas, Guainía.
The incident occurred in a wooded area in the vicinity of the indigenous people of Minitas, in Barrancominas, thanks to the military intelligence alert that warned the troops about the work of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in this sector that, apparently, had been planted by members of the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, the First Group structure Santiago Lozada that commits crimes in this area of the country.
Immediately, the security protocols were activated in all the military units of the Colombian Navy and the National Army, in operations in this place, with the purpose of mitigating any attack that may be against the inhabitants or the Military Forces. This operation led to the finding of five grenades, an improvised explosive device with a command cable activation system and one more type of anti-personnel mine, with a pressure activation system.
The improvised explosive devices were destroyed in controlled conditions on the place. An EXDE explosions and demolitions team was transferred to the scene of the events, which under the security protocols carried out the review and destruction of the improvised explosive devices under controlled conditions; which are designed and planned with lethal effects, which without discriminating, cause irreparable damage to the victims, destruction of public and private property, energy constructions, damage to the environment, among other effects that constitute a flagrant violation of human rights and international humanitarian law.
