Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan, units of the Colombian Navy and the National Army, in the course of operations to support the defense of the Civil Authority, provided the necessary security conditions for the return of three families to the village Veneral, a rural area of the Special District of Buenaventura (Valle del Cauca), who had abandoned their homes last February after the confrontation of different organized armed groups.
The troops of the NavyInfantry Brigade No.2 of the Pacific Naval Force and Infantry Battalion No.56, attached to Joint Command No.2 Southwest, carried out active work on the banks of the Yurumanguí River, and the consolidation of the area, after the confrontations between the Residual Organized Armed Group Segunda Marquetalia and the Residual Organized Armed Group Jaime Martínez Structure.
The Colombian Navy warned people of the existing risk due to the possible installation of explosive devices by illegal armed groups, so it has sent the demining groups to provide support to the requirements of the inhabitants, and carry out verifications in the face of possible suspicions of areas contaminated by anti-personnel mines and improvised explosive devices.
The units of the Military Forces established in the territory will continue to accompany the civilians and provide them with the necessary security conditions for the return of the families that are still displaced and it also works to raise their security and the respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law in their territories.
