The narcotics were transported by five individuals of Panamanian nationality, aboard a ship bound for Central America.
The Colombian Navy in an operation against organizations at the service of drug trafficking, jointly with the National Army, obtained the finding of 160 kilograms of cocaine that were transported in the waters of the Colombian Caribbean.
The permanent maritime surveillance of the Urabá Coast Guard Station and the strict land control that is constant by the National Army in this area, led to the detection of a suspicious ship that would have left with illegal substances from Colombian coasts bound for Central America.
Immediately, a rapid reaction unit of the Urabá Coast Guard Station proceeded to verify the contact north of the municipality of Acandí. However, upon realizing the work of the authorities, the five individuals who crewed the ship left an undetermined amount of sacks at sea and escaped, however, the navy men of Colombia carried out the maritime interception procedure, and obtained the arrest of the men of Panamanian nationality and recovered the illegal merchandise, finding 166 rectangular packages.
The personnel and the material were transported to the Urabá Coast Guard Station, where, in coordination with the Judicial Police, the Approved Preliminary Identification Tests - PIPH - were carried out, leaving positive result for 154 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and six kilograms of marijuana.
These substances would be valued at more than 2.6 million dollars in the international illegal market and would belong to the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, which is constant in its criminal alliances with organizations at the service of drug trafficking in different Central American countries. Thanks to this operation of the Caribbean Naval Force, the commercialization of approximately 386 thousand doses of narcotics on the streets of the world was prevented.
