With 13 search warrants and 24 arrests by court order, the Caribbean Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) in joint operation with the National Police Gaula, weaken the criminal structure of the organized gang Los Costeños.
Those arrested were carrying out criminal activities in the Centro, San Roque and Chiquinquirá neighborhoods of the Barranquilla Metropolitan area, where they extorted merchants to the point of making them sell their properties and businesses.
Through an intelligence work that lasted about six months, it was possible to find the members of the gang, verifying that the modus operandi consisted of intimidating the merchants to the point of making the victims even sell their belongings to a low price and thus the ringleaders of this criminal structure acquired the goods very quickly, thereby increasing their illicit activities.
Those arrested were required by Colombian justice for the crimes of extortion, manufacture, trafficking and possession of narcotics, manufacture, trafficking and possession of firearms and ammunition, and homicide.
Without lowering the guard and within the framework of the campaign I do not pay, I denounce (Yo no pago, Yo denuncio) the units of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) work throughout the Colombian territory to combat the crimes of kidnapping and extortion and encourage the inhabitants to report these cases through of the line 147, where they will receive permanent assistance.
