Thanks to the rapid reaction of a Coast Guard Unit, the Colombian Navy provided accompaniment and support for the evacuation of a Venezuelan woman who had a medical emergency after childbirth.

The events occurred when Coast Guard personnel, who were carrying out river border control work in the Orinoco River, in a sector near the urban center of the municipality of Puerto Carreño - in the department of Vichada, identified a small boat in which three people were traveling, all of Venezuelan origin, including a woman who requested to arrive soon at a health center while, simultaneously, a health professional tried to calm her and looked for a way to help her.

Given this, the Coast Guard of the Colombian Navy activated the humanitarian assistance operation by providing accompaniment and support to this ship and its crew so that they arrive soon and safely at their destination. Immediately, they in the same way began the corresponding coordination, through the Operations Center of the Eastern Naval Force, with the departmental hospital to activate the protocol for the assistance of this emergency.

The woman and her companions were met by a medical team and were taken care in an ambulance to the departamental hospital San Juan de Dios E. S. E in Puerto Carreño, to receive the medical care required to deal with a possible diagnosis of uterine atony, which could not be treated in Puerto Paez, Venezuela, as reported by the doctor that was taking the patient, so that they began the journey to Puerto Colombia to save the life of the woman and her baby.
